The Kason festival of watering the Sacred Bodhi Tree, symbolizing the birth, enlightenment and death of Buddha is an important Buddhist event throughout Myanmar. The full moon day of Kason is the Buddha Day, celebrated by the Buddhist faithful throughout the world. This year, the event is held on May 25th. On this day Dipankara Buddha prophesied to the hermit Sumedha that he would become Gotama Buddha, the latest one in this Baddha World, who again on suchlike days was born, attained Enlightenment (i.e., became the Buddha), and entered Parinibbana (i.e., passed away). The Buddha Day is the most significant day in the Buddhist world. It is a day four times blessed which is deeply intertwined with the milestones in the Buddhas life. The festival is also known as Vesak Day in other Buddhist countries, or the festival of pouring water on the Bodhi tree. The Bodhi tree ( Ficus Religiosa ), under which former prince Siddhattha attained Enlightenment, is held sacred. Hence the act of pouring water on it is an expression of piety and respect shown to him. Participants carry pots of water and Eugenia springs and flowers. Then comes chanting of Paritta verses, a brief explanation of the rites, and recitation of poems praising the Lord Buddha. Finally, water is poured at the foot of the Bodhi tree. Buddhist people would march in a grand procession to the Bodhi tree or to the pagodas to pour scented water. Every pagoda in Myanmar worth its salt has a sacred site complete with a Bodhi tree in its precincts. The â€Å"Do No Harm† principle is often interpreted as the non-maleficence principle, accord to which people should never do harm to others. Human morality is based on this principle. The â€Å"Do No Harm† principle requires improving working conditions in order to prevent employees from any hazards that can cause serious damage to human health. Safety risk stands for various kinds of risks associated with health-related hazards. Acceptable risk can be defined as the risk that can be taken as it is, and the level of this type of risk should be lowered to the acceptable level.   De George argues that â€Å"some jobs are inherently dangerous, and with these, the general rules of determining acceptable risk come into play† (280). The â€Å"Do No Harm† principle is used to identify both safety risks and acceptable risks as it is focused on safety protection and reduction in the amount of risk. Generally speaking, the â€Å"Do No Harm† principle requires the use of the proper skills, abilities and knowledge to guarantee safety in the workplace and the general environment. Employees should be aware of a wide range of risks they encounter in the working setting or in the environment.There are certain differences between Corporate Liability and Strict Liability. Corporate Liability and Strict Liability require the application of the proper ethical and moral principles to control the appropriateness of the actions of individuals.   De George believes that â€Å"liability for actions means that one can rightly be made to pay for the adverse effects of oneâ⠂¬â„¢s actions†(104). Corporate Liability stands for the type of liability, which can be identified at the corporate level. Corporate Liability involves the obligation of employees to prevent corporate malfeasance. However, Strict Liability is based on more strict types of obligations, including the individuals’ responsibility for some harmful action regardless of their fault. Strict Liability places emphasis on the significance of regulation of the indi viduals’ actions, without imposing blame for these harmful actions.There are certain ways in which the â€Å"Do No Harm† principle can be used in the ethical amelioration of pollution. Actually, Richard De George’s theory of whistle blowing helps to better understand the appropriateness of whistle blowing and its effects on the whistle blower and the company. Richard De George argues that there are three kinds of whistleblowing morally prohibited whistle blowing, morally permitted whistle blowing and morally required whistle blowing. In fact, whistle blowing stands for the employee’s obligation or duty to respond to harmful actions, preventing the company from doing harm to the general public. According to De George, three kinds of whistle blowing have obvious differences that are connected with the level of the employee’s morale and the circumstances. Whistle blowing is morally permitted provided an employee is willing to reveal harmful actions caused by the company to the general public. These harmful actions can be defined as illegal actions if the established laws are violated. In mo st cases, whistle blowing is focused not only on morale, but also on human duty to prevent harm. According to De George, there several conditions, highlighting the appropriateness of morally permissible whistle blowing practices:if harmful action toward others is caused by the company’s products, policies or decisions, affecting the general public;if an employee has reported his/her concerns concerning harmful actions to his/her supervisor(s);if a whistle blower is â€Å"getting no satisfaction from their immediate supervisors† (300).Actually, whistle blowing can be viewed as morally permissible if the company’s actions, decisions, products or services do serious harm to the general public. A whistle blower’s decision is based on moral obligation to blow the whistle and to stop harmful actions.   The act of whistle blowing in this case is justifiable because an employee who blows a whistle is not supported by his/her supervisors. This fact means that th e internal processes in the company are confidential and illegal. Thus, a whistle blower makes a decision to prevent corruption in the company. Indisputably, in this case, the whistle blower’s actions may destroy the company’s image on the competitive market through adverse publicity.Whistle blowing is not morally permissible if a whistle blower does not want to damage the company’s reputation and the company’s harm is not serious.Whistle blowing is not only morally permissible, but also, morally required if a whistle blower has found some interesting facts, documentation or evidence that will help to convince the public of the negative effects of the company’s policies, products or actions. According to De George, â€Å"even with some documentation and evidence, a potential whistle blower may not be taken seriously, or may not be able to get the media or government agency to take any action† (311). This fact means is if a whistle blower has got some important confidential information, it can be used to prevent harm. In addition, the right to employment is closely connected with other important human rights mentioned in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, including a right to work, a right to life, and a right to respect. These human rights are interrelated as these rights are regarded as the fundamental human rights. It is known that employment is one of the major requirements of the U.S. legislation. This fact means that all citizens should be employed. This requirement refers not only to the United States, but also to other countries. It is very important to mention that employment and labor legislation provides a set of comprehensive laws, rules and regulations that refer to various employment-related issues, e.g. hiring, selection and firing procedures, payments, benefits, etc. Generally speaking, employment is part of social and economic growth of the nation, as it deals with various problems caused by poverty. According to De George, â€Å"the right to work is equivalent to the right to employment for those able, willing and desiring to work and unable to engage in productive work if not employed† (425).The right to employment and the right to work have very much in common. The right to work guarantees economic stability of the nation. Animal Trainer

For education animal trainers often need just a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Some require a bachelor’s degree and additional skills. For example marine mammal trainers usually need a bachelor’s degree in biology, marine biology, animal science, psychology, or a related field. Skills needed for the job are moderately challenging because of the amount of hard labor work involved. They include training, feeding, grooming, bathing, exercising, and cleaning the animals as well as disinfecting and repairing the cages. For references there isn’t much needed. Having a certification is advantageous. For a certification applicants have to demonstrate their practical skills and pass two written exams. As for summer jobs, there are a few that can be helpful to shelter workers or veterinarians. Just volunteering is a good way to get your foot in the door for a good job in that field such as an animal trainer. As an entry level job u would start with on-the-job training learning the basics of taking care of the animals. Employees do prefer to hire people with experience so it’s better to start with an education and work your way up. The working conditions of an animal trainer are tough. It’s unpleasant and physically or emotionally demanding at times. Most workers have to clean cages and lift hold or restrain animals, risking being bitten or other injuries. Trainers may work outdoors in all kinds of weather, and the work setting can be noisy. For animal trainers hours are very irregular. Often weekend and holiday shifts. Some are on duty 24 hours a day. For vacation time, that isn’t blatantly specified, but based on the facts I know already unless a person is off on the holiday shifts it seems like animal trainers don’t get much of a vacation. Salaries for this job are significantly low at around a max of $31,590 a year. Average salaries are between 16k and 24k. Physical and emotional stress is big in this job. All of the hours worked caretaking for animals, lifting, cleaning; the skills needed basically, can really take a toll on someone in this job. Usually the people that work in this field are veterinarians, animal control, other animal helpers, etc. and they are usually animal lovers. I personally am not an animal lover but I like to have a dog or pet. You’re evaluated by your peer employees and the employees above you or at a higher authority such as the manager of the establishment. To me there aren’t many advantages to this job besides it works with animals and it’s an easy job to be hired at. The disadvantages are numerous. The hours worked, the time not spent with family, the amount of pain possibly involved and with all of that hard work, not very much in return with a very low salary. If I chose to apply for this job it could definitely help me in the long run if I play my cards right. The more I work as an animal trainer the more I am recognized and could possibly be advanced which includes a higher salary, more time with family, and higher salary, as well as a better future! As an animal trainer I’d also have a lot of opportunities in my career path, such as advancing up to adoption coordinators, animal control officer, emergency rescue driver, assistant shelter manager, or shelter director. In conclusion, am I suited for this career? , in my opinion no. Referring back to the disadvantages, the amount of hours away from family is a big part of that and the stress involved. That kind of work I can do but it’s not something I’d enjoy as a career. The positive side is there are a lot of job openings for an animal trainer that if all else fails it are something to fall back on. To possibly attain the goal of being an animal trainer and enjoy it is a stretch but very possible. Possibly a raise or knowing that I will have fun at times. Being able to see my family is what bothers me the most, but a job is a job. I’ll need one anyway I can get it especially in the shape the economy is in.

The first ever Indian Tourism Day was celebrated on January 25, 1998. The year 1999 was celebrated as ‘Explore India Millennium Year’ with a host of shows, exhibitions etc. The next decade saw the restructuring of the schemes of Integrated Development of Tourist Circuits, and Product/Infrastructure Destination Development. Additional schemes/incentives were announced for service providers. Upgrading of beaches, airports, tax incentives were also introduced. Besides creating an official website for the Tourism Ministry, now the calendar of events is planned. Even the new initiatives to encourage the NRIs and PIOs, through visit India programmes, Pravasi Bharatiya Divas celebration, Dual Citizenship to certain categories of diasporic Indians have given much fillip to tourism in India. Thanks also to the booming IT and outsourcing industry a growing number of business trips are made by foreigners to India, who will often add a weekend break or longer holiday to their trip. Foreign tourists, generally spend more in India than almost any other country worldwide. Tourist arrivals are projected to increase by over 22 per cent per year through till 2010, with a 33 per cent increase in foreign exchange earnings recorded in 2004. The Tourism Ministry has also played an important role in the development of the industry, initiating advertising campaigns such as the â€Å"Incredible India† campaign, which promoted India’s culture and tourist attractions in a fresh and emorable way. The tourism industry has helped growth in other sectors as diverse as horticulture, handicrafts, agriculture, construction and even poultry. India’s governmental bodies have also made a significant impact in tourism by requiring that each and every state of India have a corporation to administer support issues related to tourism. The tourism industry of India is based on certain core nationalistic ideals and standards which are: Swaagat or welcome, Sahyog or cooperation, Soochanaa or information, Sanrachanaa or infrastructure, Suvidha or facilitation, Safaai or cleanliness and Surakshaa or security. Commonwealth Games is the additional opportunity for the Travel Industry to gain some additional business, by offering special tour packages to the tourists. Recently a new concept Rural Tourism has been launched by the government in India, which is equally doing very well. It is believed that in the next few years India Tour Industry will gain new heights and the percentage of Indias share in the global tourism will grow 1. 5% by 2010. Industry is going to fetch maximum business from the Agra (Taj Mahal), Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala , Gujarat and Rajasthan, that are expected to receive maximum number of tourists.

Progressivism In the Classroom :: Education Teaching Teachers Essays

Progressivism In the Classroom A good education has always been drilled into my head ever since I was a little girl. Boy did I hate that, all I wanted to do was goof off and have fun with my friends. But as the years went on I started to realize how important it was to have a good education. Not that that made me like school anymore than I did; but I was realizing the different ways I was learning and how different people taught. I remember saying one day, when I was a freshman in high school, that if I was teaching this class I would have never taught it that way. Unfortunately, my teacher overheard me and I was forced to go to the front of the room and explain to the class the way it should be taught since I knew so much about teaching. Needless to say I did an awful job of it. That is when I started thinking about becoming a teacher. I know that does not make sense because I did such an awful job and was humiliated doing it. I did not like the way that man taught and I was determined to take his job. However, the reason I am here today is not that I want to take a teacher’s job; it is because I have the desire to make a difference in the lives of many students. I hope I will be a good teacher so that I will never have to hear a student say something bad about my teaching. I think that the nature of knowledge is relative. Not all children can learn in the same environment. I believe that if a child is put in an environment in which they cannot learn they should be placed in another environment so that they can. Some students learn at a slow pace and others learn at a fast pace. Then there are the students that learn better by lectures and others that learn better by activities. If you mix these children in the same class, than there are usually some lost kids in the class? I know that in my experiences with school, I would have never made it in a normal classroom since I learned so much slower than the other kids did.
